The R-2 district limits the intensity of animal agricultural operations to prevent larger scale animal agriculture near higher density rural residential neighborhoods. However, the proposed R-1 zoning will retain the same agricultural use standards as the existing Rural Residential while reducing allowed residential density to 1 dwelling unit per 10 acres.\n\nThe Towns of Stanton, Cylon, Erin Prairie, Emerald, Glenwood, Baldwin, Springfield, and Rush River have a strong agricultural land use. Therefore, they have the proposed R-1 designation, except in the hamlets and current subdivisions, which were designated R-2. The Towns of Somerset, Star Prairie, St. Joseph, Richmond, Hammond, and Kinnickinnic are experiencing higher development, increased subdivisions, and have higher projections for future development needs than the eastern half of the county. Therefore, they have the proposed R-2 designation, except in areas where there are animal units of 500 or more present. In Eau Galle, any individual parcel or combination of abutting parcels owned by the same owner that accumulated to 20 acres and greater was designated R-1.", "Subject": "Chapter 15 Zoning Map This was adopted in November 2019 by the County Board.
